92.7 BIG FM proudly launches BIG GREEN GANESHA 2013 –the
most eco-friendly Ganesha to take ‘Ashta Vinayaka’ avatar this year. The
initiative is entering its sixth successful year of nurturing an improved
environment while celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi, one of India’s most popular
festivals. This year’s campaign is being launched by means of a watchword
‘GANPATI BAPPA MORYA, DHARTI MATA MORYA’ in a crusade that protects planet
earth while seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesha. The objective of the
campaign is to promote the endeavour of creating social consciousness towards
making the festival better and more ecologically sound.
The campaign is being promoted through radio, on-ground,
public relations, online, mobile and transit media. The multi-media campaign
should reach maximum audiences through multiple touch points. While 13 paper
Ganesha statues were put up last year as part of the campaign, this year will
witness the erection of 30 Ganesha idols. Tie-ups will also be initiated with
popular idols and malls to garner maximum awareness and participation. The
campaign aims to encourage close to 110 residential societies across the 13
cities to install eco-friendly Ganesha idols. With strong messaging and a firm
principle, the campaign has generated awareness among 1.5 crore people each
year. Over 200 celebrities lent their support to the cause last year and their
involvement has helped spread the word. The activities carried out last year
saw more than 35,000 people donating paper by covering 15,000 households
Preparations started recently and the campaign will end on the
final day of Ganesh Chaturthi. The paper collection drive has already begun,
where newspapers will be collected from every home covering each society,
ensuring maximum participation. BIG FM's employees are also participating. The
installation of the Ganesha idols will be in a heavy footfall mall, to ensure
that maximum audiences are reached. Additionally, there will be daily prayers
by the people and listeners, with celebrities coming in to sing the praises of
Ganesha. There will also be school kids, NGOs, etc., coming in to participate
and worship the Ganesha idols. The drive will culminate with the BIG Green
Ganesha Awards, which will be launched on Sept. 19.
